on the III Sunday in XL. at Complin; Antiphon. Lord, lift Thou up. Psalm Hear me.

Antiphon. In the midst of life we are in death: of whom may we seek for succour, but of Thee, O Lord, Who for our sins art justly displeased. Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Merciful Saviour, deliver us not unto the bitterness of death.

P. Cast us not in the time of age; forsake us not when our strength faileth us, O Lord.

Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Merciful Saviour, deliver us not unto the bitterness of death.

P. Shut not Thine ears to our prayers.

Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Merciful Saviour, deliver us not unto the bitterness of death.

P. Thou that knowest the secrets of our hearts, be merciful unto our sins.

This Antiphon is said over the Psalm, Lord, now lettest, for a fortnight; but the verses are not said except on the sabbaths, Sundays, and Feasts of IX lessons. On sabbaths they are Said in the Superior grade, and on Sundays in the second form; so too on feasts of IX lessons. On double Feasts they are said in the superior grade at each Complin, without change of place or habit.
